<p>
This trip is a really special one, and one of the most popular ones. Also it’s a great trip to finish off the summer and current flying season. Autumn is the most reliable time for flying in The Dolomites, which is the most magnificent and impressive mountain range in Europe. Val Di Fassa is the most beautiful place of the Alps for free flying. To take off at 2360 m.a.s.l. we will get up comfortably by cable car, which terminal is close to the landing zone. So we can get up anytime we like. On a good day cloud base is around 1000m above the launch and we fly around 3000 m.a.s.l. which guarantee fantastic views over the Dolomites. Experienced pilots will be completely satisfied by XC flights, our instructor Pasa managed a 100km FAI triangle here, while beginners will be pleased by local flying under our supervision. The top goal is always to fly over the magnificent Marmolada at 3343 m.a.s.l. Thermals are manageable up to 4-5+ m/s, so this trip is not suitable for complete beginners. You should have minimum 50 hours of airtime and be able to fly and land confidently. Landing is always piece of cake in large flat Valleys.
</p>
<p>
We will stay in a nice guesthouse mostly in double rooms. We can manage accommodation that will meet your requirements.
</p>
<p>
There is an old saying – Who hasn’t flown in The Dolomites, didn’t fly in mountains. Don’t hesitate and join us on this superb trip. Our instructors have been guiding in The Dolomites since 2005. Deep local knowledge of guides is absolutely essential here as the strong winds &#038; thermals can be treacherous. Spring/Summer is not flyable as the conditions are really dangerous.
</p>

<p>

On our trips we always work in a team of three instructors &#8211; one driver and two pilots. One is flying in the front of the squadron with high performance wing, searching for the best thermals and route and the second pilot is closing the group looking after the slower ones and pilots flying school wings. If you are unlucky and had to lend, there is always our driver here to pick you up. This is ideal way of flying in a group and maximizes your chance for a good flight. Not like the others we do our best to keep you airborne.

<p>
A very popular trip where even less experienced pilots can under our guidance achieve first pure 100km FAI triangle. For beginners there is a guarantee of local sparing with incredible views on the Central Dolomites (Speikboden) or the Tyrol Alps (Greifenburg).
</p>
<p>
The actual weather situation will decide which site we will visit first. To Speikboden take off (2450 m.a.s.l) we will get by cable car, followed by a short walk – easy peazy. Take off is possible on south, east and north winds. Landing place is a huge obstacle free meadow, which you will be shown on the briefing.
</p>
<p>
Greifenburg is also very interesting flying site for serious triangles. Even beginners do huge steps and are amazed by gained hours of airtime. This is an ideal trip for pilots with certain level of confidence, who are bored with flying around the take off and are hungry for XC flying.
</p>

</p>
<p>
We will organize the accommodation that will meet you requirements. As we love connection with nature we normally sleep in the tents over the summer. Local campsites provide us with all necessary facilities like shower, toilet, fridge and grill. If we don’t eat out we are always keen to do a barbecue and have a few drinks and chat with another groups of pilots and travellers. If you prefer to stay in a hotel, that is not a problem and we can organize this for you. Everything is possible <img src='http://www.pgbase.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />

<strong>*Accommodation – Stay Connected To The Nature</strong>
</p>
<p>
We know that your life is very busy and sometimes could be very stressful and hectic. That’s why we offer staying in the campsites instead of luxury hotels in the summer. We believe that making a barbeque, fire, having a good beer and chat is a real stress relief. Most of our clients even decide to sleep under the stars. The camps we use have all necessary facilities &#8211; showers, toilets, fridge, barbecue and social area.
</p>
<p>
We can provide you with a tent and self-inflating mat, just give us a shout. All you need to bring is your sleeping bag. Quite often we are asked by pilots to get a keg of Czech beer in our van – no problem. We are here to make you happy. At least for one week of holidays forget about your daily stress and enjoy yourself! Customers wishing to stay in hotel will be dropped off in the evening and picked up in the morning for the flying action <img src='http://www.pgbase.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />
</p>
<p>
Generally campsites cost 6-10 euros/night and hotels between 15-20 euros/night.

<p>
This trip is a real legend. Provence area offers great flying sites and the end of August is the best time to go! We will visit following terrains St. Andre, St. Vincent, Moustiers (around the Verdon River) and La Ragne (Sederon). These sites are popular among the experienced pilots for fantastic thermals and also for beginners who enjoy the late afternoon soaring above the Moustiers with great views over the Verdon Valley. Don’t forget to take your wife, girlfriend, mother-in-law, grandmother and other non-pilot, Provence has lots of free time activities to offer.
</p>
<p>
This piece of France will simply amaze you with local weather, people, local cuisine, ham and overall friendly atmosphere.
</p>
<p>
We will organize the accommodation that will meet your requirements. There is plenty of nice family run hotels and local campsites are also luxury, so don’t hesitate to join us on our trip to sweet France.

<p>
This trip is something what we call ‘extraordinary‘. We will start our weekend in Aviano, which is close to NATO military airfield where is the free flying on weekdays prohibited. Because it‘s a first ridge of the Po Valley raising from the Mediterranean sea, it has always the right wind direction with sea breeze. We fly either west to &#8216;Bassano Del Grappa&#8217;, or following the range east to Meduno. Local flying around the top of Cimon del Cavallo (2251 m.a.s.l) is also amazing. Next two day we will move to Greifenbourg (<strong>info Speikboden trip</strong>) and last three days will be spent in our favourite and friendly Slovenia. Depending on the best weather forecast we will start from west in Gemmona (take off 1170 m.a.s.l.) under the Mt. Cuarnan with local landing place at 185 m.a.s.l., Kobaridsky Stol around the highest mountain Krn (2224 m.a.s.l.) and following the rear ridge to magical and unspoiled Sorica. Most of our students achieve very first proper XC flights in theirs flying careers and those familiar with thermalling very often do their first 100 km flights. Slovenia is a very reliable destination with 300 flying days a year. Even, if you are a complete beginner, you will enjoy the hours of airtime boosting your confidence.
</p>

<p>

<p>
Join us on our trip to Belluno and Feltre, great flying sites on the edge of the Dolomites, with amazing spring. We will start off in popular Pieve d’Alpago with comfortable take off Mt. Dolada (1494 m.a.s.l.) There is a great XC after the jump on Mt. Serva and following the range to Feltre or the northern classic route ‘the anvil‘. Beginners will be pleased with local flying around Mt. Dolada and in the Valley. We will stay here for two days with accommodation in nice pension or directly in the campsite next to the landing zone with all facilities and beer on tap. Following two day we will travel from our accommodation to Monte Avena (Feltre) take off (1379 m.a.s.l).
</p>
<p>
Last two day will be spent flying on sites according to your wish and actual weather situation. There is a possibility to move to nearby Aviano.

Axis Polaris is a high-end EN-C glider suited for experienced pilots flying the Sport category. Axis Polaris matches performance of EN-D gliders from 2011 season but obviously cannot compare to new breed of 2012 EN-D hybrid class gliders. Axis Polaris is at the top of the En-C class and doesn’t compromise on safety standards and stability. It gained precise handling well known from popular Axis Mercury and Axis Venus II gliders.

<p>
During Axis Polaris development, the R&#038;D Team used technologies and experience gained from Axis Mercury II production. The team managed to combine performance with new safety features, which resulted in a new glider that is one of the safest and most advanced in EN-C class.

<br /><br />
<p>
Axis Polaris has got a proven diagonal construction suspended into three lines by every third principal rib. The leading edge is reinforced with new nylon wires instead of mylar ones, known from Axis Venus III and Axis Comet gliders. This solution brought better weight distribution in the leading edge and excellent collapse resistance. Usage of revolutionary Inner-Rib reinforcement on the trailing edge together with very reasonable 6.45 aspect ratio guarantee good solidity and stability.
</p>
<p>
If you are looking for a wing with top performance and high passive safety, we believe that stunning Axis Polaris will satisfy all demanding pilots and even exceed your expectations!

Last Friday we had an opportunity to go with group of nice people to seaside to watch a wonderful colony of thousands wild seals. They come to a coast of Donna Nook every year for two months from November to December. The colony is spread in the area of cca 5 km2 on the coast. We could see new born little baby seals who were so close that we could almost touch them. This is a nature reservation and volunteers do theirs best to protect the newborns and prepare them for the future life in the wilderness of the sea. Their big black eyes were really heart touching. Unfortunately, they don’t have easy life as their mother leaves them after only their first three weeks. They were enjoying our company and if there wouldn‘t be a fence in the way, they would jump straight into our arms. This is sadly not possible as they are wild animals. There were 331 bulls, 975 cows and 880 pups. ( Yes, they do count them).
</p>
<p>
We enjoyed the trip very much, had a nice walk on the fresh air and shot a lot of wonderful pictures, you can see few of them above, and the travel was very comfortable.
</p>
<p>
A big thank to our organizator and guide Martin who gave us this great oportunity to see this beautiful wildlife, that can be hardly compared to what you can see in the Zoo. We were not really sure what to expect from this trip, but it was amazing and we will certainly come back next year again. We can highly recommend PG Base to everyone.
</p>
<p>
Thanks again! Peta and Tom <img src='http://www.pgbase.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />

This traditional good bye party takes place every autumn. It is our way to say bye to the current flying season. Due to the good weather conditions in the South, we decided to go to Lijak in Slovenia. Early Friday morning we catch up with the rest of the Axis boys who arrived from Brno in their caravan. The following three days were dedicated to the gliding tests of the new Mercury 2012, ‘THE TOP GUN’ for the next season and brand new high end EN C glider, the later is still making its way to the market… do not tell anyone, please, nobody knows yet!

<p>
Brilliant weather conditions throughout the three days offered us the second to none opportunities for testing new appliances. Spending our time with lots of friends from Austria, Hungary and Italy made our time busier than ever. Clear night sky during the weekend was truly irresistible for the barbecue and nice drinks.

Last August Bank Holiday part of our team spent in Slovenia. We had a good time and enjoyed last of sunny days as we could feel that summer is going to its end. We were testing new <a href="http://www.pgbase.co.uk/products/axis-comet" title="Axis Comet glider specification">Axis COMET</a>, which became very popular among intermediate pilots. His construction was adopted from successful <a href="http://www.pgbase.co.uk/products/axis-vega-iii" title="Axis Vega 3 glider specification">VEGA 3 glider</a> and gives a great performance with no compromise on safety.

<p>
Evenings belonged to Slovenian wine and local people who are amazingly friendly. On our very last flight our van stayed on the Kobala’s take off and there was no opportunity how to get up there. So we popped into the Igor’s campsite in Tolmin and asked for a help. We were given a Slovenian car and fetched the van by ourselves. Local people are just amazing <img src='http://www.pgbase.co.uk/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> See you next time…
